Slough supercentre sets the new standard for windscreen replacement and ADAS calibration

National Windscreens will celebrate the launch of its first super centre, based in Slough, which opened in April, with an official launch ceremony on May 18. It will be a chance for stakeholders including insurers, fleet companies and global suppliers to the auto industry, as well as customers, suppliers, and local press to attend and join in the conversation about the future of aftermarket windscreen repair. The day will also commemorate and fundraise in remembrance of a local technician who recently passed away.

The Slough super centre development has been driven by the increasing use of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology in modern vehicles. The super centre is set to showcase the continual improvement of the customer experience, with EV courtesy cars and a spacious reception area.

Shannon Dempsey, project manager for the Slough centre, said: “Launching the centre will be the result of a great amount of work by the team to plan and implement the strategy that will set the precedent for how windscreens are replaced in the future.”

The official opening of the centre features the naming of the working areas for customers as the ‘Wakefield working zone’, in honour of David Wakefield, a young National Windscreens technician from Slough who passed away recently after a battle with cancer. David’s father also worked for National Windscreens, and he will be remembered as a loyal and skilled colleague.

As a gesture of respect, the board at National Windscreens agreed to help fund David’s funeral, also agreeing that every windscreen repair or replacement that requires ADAS calibration will include a contribution towards the memorial fundraiser for David , fondly known as ‘Little Dave’, for the first month of the centre opening.
