Embracing social dialogue for World Day for Safety and Health at Work

National Windscreens is committed to maintaining an occupational safety and health culture in which the right to a safe and healthy working environment is respected at all levels. With our latest focus being on establishing a social dialogue to facilitate a positive health and safety culture throughout the organisation, we are fully aligned with the aims of World Day for Health and Safety on 28 th April and will be working hard to promote widespread awareness of this initiative.

World Day for Safety and Health at Work is an annual international campaign to promote the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases globally. As an organisation that works with vehicles and glass, with inherent risks to safety that both can entail, National Windscreens has established protocols to minimise risk to the team and to instil a culture that values open communication regarding health and safety.

Understanding the aspects of windscreen fitting that have the potential to be dangerous is crucial, as well as the processes and substances within the fitting centres that could cause harm. This includes the cleaning and maintenance of the equipment and workshops. New members of staff are given in-depth training regarding the risks within their role and are encouraged to be open about their physical and mental health.

The latest focus on social dialogue within this health and safety initiative will help to promote the reporting of unsafe acts, occurrences or near misses in the National Windscreen fitting centres across the UK. As an organisation, National Windscreens understand that the strength of the business relies on the health and safety of the members of the team. Understanding this allows the team to continue to develop and build a culture that puts health and safety as an absolute priority moving forward.
